Dacron® staple fibre with specially modified polymer properties to reduce pilling.

What is pilling?
Pilling is the formation of naps of tangled fibres which are held to the surface of a fabric by one or more fibers.

Pilling is an aesthetic defect which occurs in areas that are especially abraded or rubbed during wear.

Pill formation
The number of pills formed within the time range can be reported on the pilling curve.

The number of unsightly pills on fabric surface depends on two factors : rate of pill formation and the lifetime of the pills.

A brand new innovation
The new fibre is the result of a two year R&D program, based on an innovative new modified polymer.
Thanks to the modified molecular structure, any unsightly pills which are formed do not stay on the fabric surface, but simply fall off, ensuring enhanced fabric appearance.
ADVANSA offers a breakthrought with this new product Dacron® 138 which has the best pilling performance of any polyester fibre available.

Pilling performance of Dacron® 138
Fabrics made with new Dacron® 138 show significantly reduced tendency to form unsightly pills ensuring enhanced fabric appearance even after years of simulated wash and wear.
Garments or upholstered goods containing Dacron® 138 will stay looking new for longer providing benefits through the value chain to retailers and consumers.

Benefits and potential
ADVANSA sees major potential in the new fibre for cotton system spinning and is also close to commercialising a tow and tops product for polyester wool blends.
