New Suprelle™ Micro fibre fillings for duvets and pillows
Interzum – April 2005 , ADVANSA , Europe’s largest polyester company, announces the launch of Suprelle™ Micro , an extraordinary new fibre filling material offering an ultra-soft and down-like performance for pillows and duvets. Suprelle™ Micro was developed by ADVANSA over a three-year period in partnership with leading Italian down supplier Molina SpA. The new patent-pending technology is based on siliconised polyester micro-fibre with an extremely short cut length of only 8 mm (almost 10 times shorter than a regular filling fibre) and a special crimp structure. The combination of micro-denier with short cut length results in a huge increase in the number of fibres per kilogram - over 50 times more fibres per kilogram than a standard filling. This is the key to providing superior refluffability combined with a new down-like “slow release” recovery performance for pillows. For duvets Suprelle™ Micro offers an ultra-soft down-like touch as well as excellent thermal insulation properties. Jean-Christophe Rouyer of ADVANSA commented “Fifteen years ago DuPont revolutionised the pillow industry with the introduction of Comforel® ball-fibre. A product, which has today replaced feather-and-down as consumers’ favourite pillow filling, even in traditional markets such as Germany. Today ADVANSA again demonstrates its leadership with Suprelle™ Micro. As a loose filling for duvets we believe this product offers the best ever combination of softness with warmth, plus the non-allergenic and washability benefits of polyester. In pillows the remarkable down-like “slow release” recovery of Suprelle™ Micro is something totally new for synthetic filled pillows” By adding this product to its wide fibre filling product range ADVANSA emphasizes its commitment to invest in new products providing enhanced consumer comfort in bedding products. Suprelle™ Micro will be backed by ADVANSA with a high profile consumer marketing campaign and commercialised via its European network of licensed manufacturers of duvets and pillows.
